The United Church in University Place manifests the spirit of hospitality as taught by Jesus by publicly welcoming all people, including those who are Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender, to participate fully in every aspect of our church life and ministry.
As we seek to increase the circle of God's unconditional love, our intent is to move beyond the "all are welcome" statement that has in too many churches proven untrue.
Open and Affirming - "OnA" - is the term used in the United Church of Christ and Reconciling is the term used in the United Methodist Church. These terms are used by UCC and UMC to publicly declare that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) individuals and their families are welcome in the full life of the church. To be an Open and Affirming/Reconciling (OnA/R) church speaks to the hospitality of our Christian tradition and the willingness to live out that welcome in meaningful ways.
